Bombardier Challenger 350

The Challenger 350 is Bombardier's super-midsize business jet, and on a South Florida ramp it is the aircraft that is neither a light jet nor a heavy. It is the class most brokers are marketing when they say a buyer wants transcontinental range without stepping up to a large cabin.

What distinguishes it is the cabin floor. It is flat, where much of the class still had a dropped aisle, and that one decision is why operators put eight or nine people in one for a four-hour leg without complaint. The wing carries over from the Challenger 300 with canted winglets, and the engines are Honeywell HTF7350s.

For a photographer it is a cooperative aircraft. The fuselage is long enough to fill a frame at short focal length without distortion, the registration sits high and clear on the rear fuselage, and the swept fin gives a clean silhouette against sky.

Both of the ones here were photographed at Boca Raton on the same afternoon, square to the camera, which is the view that shows a buyer the whole aircraft at once.
